It is not easy differentiating between accredited schools and degree mills but there are ways through which you can accomplish this task. Below are the 8 best ways to tell an accredited school from the degree mills.

1. Quality of Syllabus

Quality of syllabus in accredited school is much better than degree mills. You will find that degree mills’ syllabuses are not updated regularly.

2. High tuition rates

Degree mills charge high tuition to their students. This is not the case with accredited school where tuition rates are often quite low.

3. Admission procedure

You will find plenty of variation in the admission procedures of degree mills and accredited school. While accredited schools conduct entrance exams and interviews before giving you admission, degree mills do not bothered with these things.

4. Financial aid

You are not going to get any sort of financial aid from degree mills. Accredited schools provide financial aid to their students in the form of grants and scholarships.

5. Attending classes

When you take admission in an accredited school, you need to attend classes and forum discussions regularly or you may not be able to take the final exam. There is no pressure on you to attend classes at degree mills. As a matter of fact, you can get a degree from degree mills without taking any classes.

6. Website

Accredited schools have a website where you can find all their relevant details. This is quite beneficial for working professionals interested in getting details of the class schedules. By knowing class schedule well in advance, they can manage their time in a much better way. Degree mills normally do not have a detailed website or any contact information.

7. Infrastructure

Degree mills cannot compete with accredited school in terms of infrastructure. In degree mills, you are not going to find laboratories, journals and books in libraries or the latest software in the computer system.

8. Practical training

When you take admission in an accredited school, you are going to get practical training from the experienced faculty. This not possible in degree mills. Practical training plays a prominent part in shaping your career so make sure you take admission in an accredited school.
