Community Colleges in New Jersey Are the Catalyst for Monetary Development

Community colleges are an important part of the higher education system. They serve more than half of the American students preparing for four-year graduate programs, along with those students preparing for workforce development and training of the skills, and serving the community.

The majority of jobs by 2014 will require students having post-secondary education. The need for educated workforce will increase more than ever. Consequently, employers would look for students who are more likely to complete their education.

Without the presence of community colleges, a dearth of students and adult learners would not be able to acquire the education they would need in order to further their education level and get a well-paid job. Community colleges are supposedly a common point for everyone in the city to get education easily, with the least expense possible. These colleges prove to be a catalyst for the financial development of a community.

Programs Offered

Community colleges are complete institutions that provide:

1. Universal and moderate education,
2. Vocational education
3. Education for adults, continuing education.

There are a variety of programs offered at these community colleges, from arts, science, commerce, computers to engineering. The curriculum is not very detailed, and it covers only a general outline of subjects, such as:

Cost of Study

Community colleges charge very low tuition fees, tuition fees in 2010-2011 were $ 2,544 yearly. There is financial aid programs made available by government or colleges themselves, which the students can avail.

Different forms of Financial Aid:

Financial aid comes in various forms:

• Education loans given to parents by the government or individual colleges which have to be repaid once you get done with your education.
• Educational scholarships are given to exceptional students who work hard to get good grades, or possess some extraordinary talent. These scholarships are not to be repaid.
• Need-based educational grants are made for students who are in severe need of financial aid, and cannot afford school without it. Similar to scholarships, grants also do not need to be repaid.
• Part-time jobs on campus, or off-campus, which can be pursued along with the education, are also available for students.

Course Duration

Post-secondary colleges have duration of two years. After these two years in college, a two-year degree i.e. Associate of Art, Science, Applied Science, Applied Arts and General Studies is awarded.

These community colleges in New Jersey provide affordable education to all the citizens of the state. They are accessible, important and most of all, very affordable. Those who can’t even afford tuition have the option of financial aid. With community college education, you can hope and accomplish to enter an exciting journey toward a successful enrollment in the four year degree program consequently; pursuing the career you would desire the most.
